Apicalis Labs is a conservation tech company based in Perth, Western Australia. Our founder, Simon Blee has worked in tech for many years, from defence technology to robotics in silicon valley and the mining industry.
A complaint from Simon's partner, Carly Moir who is pursuing a PhD in conservation, about the expense and time-consuming nature of radio tracking pushed Simon to build a much more cost-effective and time-saving solution for tracking animals with drones. Existing solutions on the market are certainly capable, but are out of reach for the vast majority of projects because of their upfront and ongoing costs.
Simon's vision is to bring cutting-edge technology to the conservation industry at affordable prices so that capital can be targeted where it matters most.
